ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Caia McCullar (retired) Professor of Church Music Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. She taught graduate courses in early childhood, music education, private voice, and directs the children's lab choir. As Professor of Music, she developed and taught the Music ExCET (now TExES) Review course for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and continues teaching this course and now the TExES course as an adjunct faculty member at Dallas Baptist University.

In addition to her fifteen years at the university level, Dr. McCullar had a thirteen-year career as a public school educator, including appointments in elementary and secondary choral music, elementary language arts and social studies, and special education. She holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree (K-12) from Baylor University, the Master of Music degree and Performers Certificate in voice from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University. Dr. McCullar is certified as an elementary classroom and special education teacher in addition to her all-level music certification.

David McCullar (retired) Director of Fine Arts for the Denton Public Schools where he managed K-12 programs in elementary and secondary visual art, elementary music, band, choir, orchestra, theatre arts, and dance. Previously he served as Coordinator of Fine Arts and Gifted and Talented programs for the Waco Public Schools. Prior to his work as a public school administrator, Mr. McCullar had a twenty-year career as a public school choral director and university music professor. He holds the Bachelor of Music Education (K-12) and Master of Music degrees from Baylor University and completed extensive post-graduate study in the area of fine arts with a music history and literature emphasis at Texas Tech University. Mr. McCullar has the Mid-Management Certification (K-12) from Texas Woman's University and the Gifted and Talented Endorsement (K-12) from Tarleton Sate University in addition to his all-level music certification.
