ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Shannon Pugh
Ms. Pugh was born at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. She
spent her
childhood in Alaska, Louisiana, and California. She earned a
Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Political Science and History with a minor in
humanities at
Midwestern State University. Ms. Pugh followed her BA with a
Master of Arts
in Political Science. In 1994 she joined Teach for America and
was stationed
in the Mississippi Delta where she taught 7th and 8th grade
history. During
this time she completed her teacher certification requirements
through
courses completed at the University of Mississippi and
Mississippi Valley
State University. In 1997 she moved to Dallas and began teaching
at W.T.
White High School where she currently teaches AP European
History, AP World
History, and AP Art History. Ms. Pugh is certified in composite
social
studies (history, government, economics, psychology, and
sociology), speech,
educational technology, ESL, and art. In 2004, she earned a
Master of
Education Degree in Educational Administration from the
University of North
Texas. She was one of the first three Texas teachers certified
by the
National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in Social
Studies. Ms.
Pugh has presented at conferences at the local, state, and
national level
and is the past president of Dallas Council for the Social
Studies. She is a
frequent trainer of new teachers. She is actively involved with
the Advanced
Placement program and she serves as a reader for the AP World
History Exam.
She is the 2005 High School Teacher of the Year for Dallas
Independent
School District.

ONLINE MODULES: The TEMs (TExES Ebook Modules) are a great option if you don't think you need tutoring, but might need guidance through all of our exercises and activities. Everything is online in a course format but you can print chapters and worksheets. The course has the same content as our books and ebooks but everything can be done on your computer or portable device. TUTORING: To purchase tutoring, all tutoring choices appear at the bottom of the main page of our website. See a description of all of our options below.
"The Basics" options: This introductory session by phone with our staff is usually held on Sat. mornings and is $45 for just over 1 hour. You can purchase this session back on our main page near the bottom of the page. This is a great option for teachers who want a kick-start to their study. With this option your book is also 15% off and provided by refund to your card after the session. This session does not cover subject matter content, but provides a step-by-step review of every part of our study program...worksheets, exercises, study tips, etc.
"The Details" options: If you choose the One-on-One In-Person or Skype® tutoring, you meet with the author or one of our trained tutors in person for a minimum of 2 hours and your book is 25% off and provided by refund to your card after the session. The tutor assesses where you are at in your preparation, spends time with you in a targeted content review, reviews study program activities to lead you into "active study", and provides customized study recommendations. These options are $60 per hour and payable directly to the tutor. You may also pre-pay for in-person or Skype tutoring at the bottom of the main page of our website.
